Fierce battles continued along Myitkyina-Laiza road for three days



Fierce fighting erupted in Madasawn (View Point) located between Shwe Nyaung Pin and Gara-yang on Myitkyina –Laiza road. KIA soldiers of 3rd Battalion under 5th Brigade faced about 300 Burmese Army soldiers advancing on KIA’s 3rd Battalion territory and fighting started at about 6 am on Oct 13, 2011. Another round of fierce fighting began at 6 am the next day and the battle lasted for more than 13 hours.

KIA soldiers have launched an attack on Burmese Army’s 321st LIR base in Shwe Nyaung Pin on Oct 14 at 4 pm. The attack lasted for about 30 minutes. KIA launched another attack which lasted for about 5 hours on Burmese Army’s 321st LIR and 58th LIB at Dabak on Oct 14.

Another fierce fighting that began at 7 am on Oct 15 in Dabak and Shwe Nyaung Pin killed at least 2 Burmese soldiers and wounded 6, a front line source said. 2 KIA soldiers were wounded in this battle.

Front line sources confirmed that KIA soldiers of 21st Battalion under 3rd Brigade overran a Burmese Army post at Janmai near Loije on Oct 12 morning.
